I've reworked the door but am still not sure if I will put a door on this mold or not. I would really like a door for a couple of reasons; if you wanted to use one mold for a project then you would just have an open doorway with nothing to put in it - and people like doors in general.
The problems that the previous door had were 1) it was period oriented 2) you needed an arch filler 3) it stood up higher than the rest of the pieces resulting in a thick mold. Here's what the old door looked like:
What about this door instead?
It's not as period oriented and since it had a rounded top arch you don't need an arch filler. It also splits down the middle but the wood grain will hide the seam fairly well.
I've just about finished all the blocks for this mold but I have to do some test building before deciding on the exact combination of blocks that will be on it. I also have a couple of 1" long plank sections on their side edge so you can make the windows look boarded up (instead of just empty holes for windows). I will end up making a door and window mold for the brick but I also wanted people to make a completed project with just this one mold (which would be a ruined house).
Anyway, let me know what you think.
