I have made 8 casts from this new mold this morning. First cast I broke three of the pieces which several ones are a little difficult to remove especially the corner pieces at the end of the mold. On this cast I did not use the wet water method and the pieces came out with huge holes and blemishes in them.
The second cast I did use the wet water method and all my pieces came out sparkly clean and blemish free. But I did still break a few pieces.
After the third cast I was able to extract all the pieces problem free. Needed to learn the mold I guess.
One of the things I'm noticing if you use this mold with the station builder mold it makes the station builder mold almost incomplete. There are several size pieces missing to make the transition seamless. However I was thinking of using the regular blocks mold to build up inner structures and then use the station builder mold along with the new sci-fi molds to skin the project. Hmm need to do some thinking.
Note: If youre using Merlins Magic I do suggest letting the plaster cure for longer than 15 minutes before de-molding. I started to let my plaster cure in the mold for 30 minutes per cast and the breakage has been reduced by about 90%.
Moving onthe floor tile mold is virtually pain free to cast once the air bubbles are out. Enough said.
Difficulty rating for casting 1-10 1=easiest, 10=extremely difficult
I rate this mold a 6 on the difficulty scale.
