My new molds arrived over the weekend, the two new sci-fi molds and three molds to complete my FS set, and I had just enough free time available to do a series of 4 pours. The sci-fi molds really need a pre-soak in a diluted wetting agent, and the one pour I tried without it suffered from a lot of bubbles in the details. The other three tries, with both a pre-soak and a few drops of JetDry in the mix, turned out beautifully, with only around one small bubble per mold. I'm used to using floor molds as receptacles for the last dribs and drabs of half-dried plaster, scrapings, and whatever else; the Starship Floor mold is a bit pickier than that, and needs to be treated with the same care as pouring one of the detailed "trim" molds.

It was pointed out earlier that the thin door lintel flanges are fragile, so I gave the plaster a few extra minutes to cure before demolding, and had no breakage problems at all. I noticed that the "carpet" texture grips the plaster, and removing it is like peeling apart a strip of Velcro.

Overall, I'd consider the two new additions to Bruce's HA catalog to be "intermediate" in difficulty, with a number of quirks, but none of them all that serious.

The last thing I need is another distraction from my current projects, but I'm afraid that these two molds are going to be a major contender for my limited free time.
