Games workshop has a great how to guide for making outdoor terrain. However, at $30 US, it is a bit pricey. There are several links from the home page with great subjects on them. I would recommend starting with Abaroth's World as a good resource and branch out from there. Also, look through the Tips and Tricks section that Bruce has done. There are several good examples in there as well.
