I always figure out my mix ratios by volume rather then by weight. It kind of saves a step of actually weighing things out since I scoop stuff using a measuring cup anyway. Although this will change the ratio a little bit because the materials don't have the same density. So for the first casts weigh the water and plaster powder in a measuring cup to get the volumes (remember to zero out the scale with the weight of the measuring cup).
Once you do this once you can figure out the ratio by volume and adjust it from there... Right now with the silver set 20 I am running a ratio of 2:1 by volume but experimenting with doing syrenging means that this ratio might be a little too thick. I am probably going to try a 4:3 ratio plaster:water and see if that lends itself better to syrenging without clogging the nozzle.
