Hi,

Let me see if I remember my youth as an amateur astronomer ... A lunar eclipse lasts for only a couple of hours (~3.5 hours in this case), since that is all it takes for the moon to pass through the line formed by sun and moon.  (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_eclipse has a schematic).  That means that only the part of the earth where the moon is visible during those few hours will get to see the eclipse.  Unfortunately for people in America (both North and South) the moon is not visible at the time of eclipse. The eclipse starts around 20h30 Central European Summer Time (and ends around midnight), which translates roughly into late afternoon/early evening in your part of the globe.
