Hi Tiberius.
The can works almost. It leaves a very small gap which I'll patch after the tower is built. As the tower gets higher the gap is not so noticeable, so I suspect that the can may not be the same size for its entire length.
We have another pringles can in the pantry so I get the daughter to eat them and try the other can and see how it works!
I can see the value in the templates and may do some in MDF if the 2nd can fails also. Like you, Tiberius, I find the use of rubber bands absolutely mandatory for model building
