Thinking this week would be less intense than the previous was a ridiculous thought. Ok, so it was mostly self-inflicted due to deciding I was going to paint all of the furniture in addition to the planned activities...
Lots of pictures this week starting with the planned items such as the well:
It isn't quite 'done' yet as it needs a bit of drybrushing and the rope will be painted a little lighter color.
Here is the bar area:
In the photo above, you can see the pair of holes which will be filled with kegs eventually.
Below is a photo of the freight elevator before being installed. I'll get an updated pic once I get it in place (and no, it won't actually work...).
The stage isn't quite finished yet either and will be fancied up with some lamps in the front of it:
The kitchen unfortunately got completely ignored as did the doors. Neither of which has hit me with any inspiration. I'll probably end up with no doors on the rooms, but I'll definitely get a front door and service entrance door done this week. I did add a few timbers to the 6th floor, but ran out again before finishing.
Now, on to what took most of the time this week (I'll once again bring up the many late nights...fortunately I'm about done)....furniture!
Below is a 'finished' bed. I tried a few experiments of adding some color to the quilt, but nothing turned out very appealing. I'm going to just stick with the 'natural' tan look.
And a closeup of the chairs seen in the background:
Overview of 74 chairs:
Although there are a lot of them here (104), the clear-resin lamps don't look that impressive in this low-quality photo:
However, in a photo taken from a 'real' camera and with better lighting and setting, they are the highlight of the week in my opinion:
The furniture above is in the late stages of painting. They all still await the final wash to get rid of the 'chalky' side effect of the drybrush step and will have the knobs painted brass (like the lamp bases).
Here are some tables patrons can stand around to be used in the balcony area:
They still need their final wash also. Here are some regular sitting tables for the main floor as well as other locations throughout the inn:
All awaiting the final wash to rid the pieces from looking chalky, here are a few shots of furniture grouped together by floor:
(there are a few more trays of furniture for the other floors, but the photos came out blurry and are just more of the same...)
Finally an overview of all of the furniture (minus the tables):
This week the furniture will all be finished with the final wash. The balsa trim on the 5th floor and roof will be finished up. At least front/service doors will be made. The railing on the 2nd floor inside balcony surrounding the stage needs to get done. The kitchen ought to get something to fill it up.
Well, that is it for this update. Hopefully I haven't included too many photos and bored you with repetition. After painting 22 armoires, 33 beds, 28 dressers, 35 nightstands, 9 desks, 22 tables, 9 small tables, 74 chairs, and 104 lamps, I think I have gained much clarity on the definition of repetition.
