Finally finished! This model has come a long way since it's humble beginnings. I've managed to maintain the outline I had in mind when I started, but it's certainly morphed in different directions along the way. It's been a process that I've enjoyed and learned from. I'm not sure who's happier that it's finally complete, Kent, me, or my wife... Enough chatting, on to the pics. Let's take a tour.

Now presenting:
image
I had originally planned to do an image transfer onto Hirst Arts wood planks of this image, however the process nearly drove me mad. So I went with a textured paper. I had to print the background image (clouds) and then re-print with the lettering. The sign post is removable. The whole thing is a combination of paper, balsa, wire, sheet styrene, and miniature nails. Bed, Bath, and Beyond is one of those stores my wife drags me to and sometimes it feels like a slow death hanging out there...

Please, come in:

I glued together some of the log sections from mold 85 then ground them fairly flat to fit against the wall. The grape cluster is just a small suggestion of the wonders that wait within. Wine is an item never lacking in Malacus' Bath House. It helps ease his nightmares, helps his customers donate more coin to his cause, and occasionally has a little something extra in it, when an out of town visitor (who won't be missed...) needs extra help sleeping.

Come through the door, the front desk is to the right:
image
This is where Malacus checks you in, takes payment, and sells you a glass or three of wine (top shelf being more expensive, grog on the bottom).

From the front desk, turn around to take the stairs to your room:
image
There's a bit of storage under the stairs for boxes of wine and special additives for the bath to reduce the natural odor of the hot spring.

Go through the opening to the bath when you are ready:
image
There are towels on either wall. To the back we have two different types of body oils to be liberally applied and then we have servants to scrape it off with strigils.( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strigil ) The straw keeps the floor clean and there's some spare straw in the corner when it needs to be changed. Currently the bath is empty, however it will refill while you have the dirt of the road scraped from your skin...

image
From the straw, you have a view of the bath control wheel (please, do not touch!), more additives for the bath including a wonderful rose water, and also the towel rack and changing bench. Please hang your towel next time, the water damages the wood of the bench...

This next pic shows the inside of the door, in the previous pic it was unfinished (oops).
image
The color around the door is a little off, somewhat due to the flash. This also shows the difference in the two bath areas (Andadas asked for one full and one empty for role playing).

When you head up the stairs:
image
Malacus' room is the first door. It's heavily bolted and private, please keep out. Your room is down the hall. Each room has it's own chamber pot for night soil. Please don't toss it out the window, we'll have one of the servants empty it in the morning. Malacus has an aversion to dung lying about the premises.
image
Unfortunately, the flash shows defects and blemishes in the walls that are not that apparent to the naked eye.

If you manage to make it into Malacus' room, there's a large cabinet against the back wall, please stay out.
image

If you are still being nosy, there's a large box inside, with various personal belongings and a rope ladder for? Maybe Malacus uses it if he needs to escape out the window, but it seems a little long to go from the second story window to the ground... (You can see the ladder in the last pic of this post)
image

Oh you nosy, nosy adventurers, you found the coin stash...
image

It figures you'd have an elf with you, they always find the secret doors (pointy eared weirdos)...
image
What's that strange flickering light?

The secret door into the basement cavern:
image

image
This is where Malacus will check you out of the bath house (if you're from out of town and won't be missed). There's a ledger, and several barrels with a hammer and lids. He has the keys to all the rooms and knows where you sleep. Once sufficiently drugged, it's a small matter to drag you into his room, lower you into the cavern, stuff you into a barrel, flood the underground waterway with the secondary water wheel controls, and satisfy his kobold curse. Conveniently the waterway leads to the kobold kingdom. There's also a heavily bolted metal door into the underground caverns (bolted on this side, one must keep the kobolds out...). Malacus can then climb up the ladder, put everything back in order, and get a good night's sleep. Tomorrow's a new day and there are dirty people to clean.

Nuff said! Happy to answer any questions of how things are put together. Thanks for looking and I hoped you've enjoyed the journey. There's plenty of room for you at the bath house...
