For those casters who would like to measure their plaster instead of mixing it by eye, I would like to start a thread that will help. In this thread, please post the mix ratios that you use for the different kinds of plaster. Please use exact measurements by weight or volume. I will post the first reply to give an example. Bruce has stated that if we get enough good responses he will make this a sticky topic so that it will be easy to find. He may even put the info on the website (after we have everything sorted out). I think this will be a good way for new users to quickly find good mix ratios and a source of info for users who are trying a new type of plaster as well. Thanks for the help.

2.75 oz's of Hydrostone for each oz of water. Distribute evenly. Wait 1.5 minutes. Mix thoroughly for 1-2 minutes. Let stand for 1 minute. Pour. Naloomi

Hydrostone
90g water 200g plaster Mix until smooth. Pour. Wait 6 - 7 minutes. Scrape. Unmold in 35 minutes. Note - I can add up to about 1/8 tsp of earth pigment with the water and it doesn't significantly affect the plaster. |

Merlin's Magic - 110gm plaster to 1oz. water ( I use an old triple beam scale and graduated shot glass).
scrape after about 5-6 min.
Eagles may soar, but weasels don't get sucked into jet engines.
molds I have : 40,43,44,52,53,54,55,56,60,61,63,64,65,70,71,72,73, 74,75,76,77,78,85,100,164,202,230,235,250,268,701.

I have been using Densite K-4 for a couple months now.
The ratio I use (by weight for both water and powder) is 3g water for every 10g powder. I mix with the following method: 1) Put plaster in mixing bowl. 2) Add water. 3) Wait 30sec or so. 4) Mix slow but well. Be sure to scrape the corners and sides of bowl for any dry spots. 5) Let sit a min. 6) Mix again briefly. 7) Pour. If it's a multi mold batch I give it a quick stir between molds as it seems to like to settle. I use the plexi-glass method so I can't comment on scrape times...but 30min seems to be plenty for setting. -- TF |

Thanks to everyone who has added their mixing ratios. This has been helpful to me and I think it will continue to be helpful for anyone new to the
"addiction"
 Please continue to add ratios for any plaster, as there are still some that have not been mentioned. Even if it has been mentioned,
and you use the same or similar ratio, please post it. This will help validate the ratio used. Bruce may use this info on his website or make this a sticky
topic, in order to help people who measure their plaster. Thanks for the help.
